An unvaccinated child, who was at the Embudo Valley Library and the Dixon Market on
Monday & Tuesday, has developed measles. Unvaccinated people who had contact
with this ill child are at high risk of developing the disease. The New Mexico Department
of Health wants to learn about anyone who had contact with this child and is getting sick
as soon as possible so that they can attempt to interrupt continued disease spread in the
community. There will be a community meeting with representatives from the
NMDOH on Saturday, June 30th at noon at the Carnelian Center. People are
welcome to come and speak with them and ask questions. More information in the NMDOH
attachment. Also attached is a message from a local physician regarding vaccinations.
Staff from NMDOH will be at the Embudo Medical Clinic TODAY to give MMR
vaccine to anyone who needs it.
